Dental Coverage

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) does not typically cover routine dental care. This includes cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, dentures, dental plates, or other dental devices. Emergency or complicated dental procedures that require hospitalization may be covered under Part A.

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Supplement plan, you can purchase a standalone dental plan. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you should review your plan to see if dental coverage is offered.

Vision Coverage

Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine eye exams for eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, it does cover yearly eye exams for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma tests for high-risk individuals. Some surgical procedures to treat eye diseases and injuries are also covered.

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Supplement plan, you can purchase a standalone dental plan. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you should review your plan to see if vision coverage is offered. These can include regular eye exams and, in some cases, allowances for glasses or contact lenses.
